Telford Town Park is the country’s top park, according to the great British public. The contest was run by Fields in Trust, the only charity that supports the UK’s public play spaces.
The park, which has been improved over the past few years and now includes an aerial ropes course, a water play area, and a visitor’s centre and bike shop, was up against parks in Edinburgh and Worcestershire in the race for top spot.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said, “We’re obviously delighted our beautiful park has won such a prestigious national award in spite of extremely stiff competition. But I have to say I’m not the least bit surprised – I’ve always said our Town Park is one of the jewels in Telford’s crown and it is great to have it confirmed on a national stage.”
