King Lear will be broadcast live at The Edge Arts Centre in Much Wenlock on Thursday 27 September as part of National Theatre Live – and it will feature one of the most highly acclaimed actors working today.

Considered one of the greatest tragedies ever written, King Lear (Ian McKellen, Lord of the Rings, X-Men) attempts to divide his kingdom between his three daughters – with disastrous consequences. The cast also includes Sinéad Cusack (V for Vendetta) Kirsty Bushell (Motherland) and Danny Webb (Humans) Jonathan Munby directs this contemporary retelling of Shakespeare’s tender, violent, moving and shocking play.
