A campaign to prevent development on greenbelt land near Shifnal is picking up support from locals. Shifnal Matters, which had to date collected over 1,200 signatures on its anti-development petition, is aiming to convince Shropshire Council to prevent proposed development. The plans would lead to 3,000 houses being built. Opposing Shifnal Matters, Viscount Alexander Newport explained that the Savills report, commissioned by his organisation, indicates the project could create up to 8,000 jobs.
