Classical concerts with Latin passion

A new mini series of concerts, featuring classical music with a Latin passion, has been added to the county’s arts calendar.

Shropshire Music Trust, which prides itself on bringing the best in classical and world music to the region, has arranged the events for next month.

Two of France’s top performers, cellist François Ragot and guitarist Nathalie Mengual, will present a diverse programme of duets and solos.

Playing as ‘Duo Arpegi’ they will present the concerts in Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch.

“This is a fabulous chance to hear classical music from Latin America and Spain brought to life vividly through the sensibility and warmth of the cello with the sharpness and energy of the guitar,” said John Moore, artistic director of Shropshire Music Trust. “Music will include compositions by Falla, Granados, Albeniz, Cassado, Piazzolla and others.”

The performances will be at Shrewsbury Unitarian Church, High Street, on October 17 at 1pm; Whitchurch St Alkmund’s Church on October 17 at 7pm and St Mary Magdalene Church in Bridgnorth on October 22 at 7pm

Tickets are £10 each, with children free, and booking is via the Shropshire Music Trust website: https://www.shropshiremusictrust.co.uk or www.ticketsource.co.uk/smt
