Late Night Licences under Fire

The debate on late licences which run as late as 3am in Bridgnorth has been rumbling on with a public meeting held last month in response to concerns from residents of Cartway, St Mary’s Street, Listley Street and the High Street. Licensees, the Police and residents have been trying to find a route through the issue with Shropshire Council Licensing Committee members and Councillor Christian Lee also getting involved. Stuart Bellaby, Manager of The Crown, is keen to respond to local concerns and has made an offer to our local Police Authority member Robin Bennett to close at 2am or earlier if the other larger town centre venue – Bar 27/Boogie Nights – does the same.

Perhaps a solution that suits all parties is in sight? More on this in next month’s What’s What.
