Bridgnorth and South Shropshire Crucial Crew group has announced that, after an absence of two years due to COVID, it will return to the community in June 2022.
The annual children’s safety programme will take place at an exciting new venue by the River Severn, at the home of Bridgnorth Rugby Club (the Edgar Davies Ground) from June 20-24.
Crucial Crew chair, Chris Aked, said: “We believe that the new location will allow us to offer some new elements which will benefit children taking part. Once again there will be 11 workshops on a range of topics including drug and alcohol abuse, fire safety, environmental issues and internet safety. We will also take advantage of our closeness to the river with a new water related workshop.”
For more than 20 years prior to COVID, the local group has been hosting the programme which is aimed at Year 6 primary school children. They participate in a series of workshops which are designed to help them manage various scenarios as they approach their transition to senior schools.
Bridgnorth Rugby club chair, Karen Sawbridge, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting the children at this event. As a community minded club we really welcome any opportunity to provide our facilities to the youngsters of Bridgnorth and surrounding parishes. This is such a worthwhile programme that we are thrilled to be involved”.
More than 800 children from 40 schools from Bridgnorth and across South Shropshire are expected to participate. For more information, contact Crucial Crew chair, Chris Aked, at cjaked@live.com.
