Cycling the Shropshire hills

The Shropshire Hills Sportive will take place on 7 July

Now in its third year, the Mamil Cycling ‘Shropshire Hills Sportive’ will be held on Sunday 7 July. The race will start and finish on Bridgnorth High Street which will be closed for the day, and will take in some of the best known landmarks in Shropshire.

Over 450 competitors are travelling from all over the country (and beyond) to take part. There are three routes of 50, 70 and 100 miles – all of which include the gruelling climb of the Clee Hill – with the 100-mile route also going over the Long Mynd.

One rider is coming from as far afield as Sydney, Australia – Pete Richards emigrated in 2002 but is returning to ride the 100 mile challenge. Riders will set off around 9am, and return from noon throughout the afternoon. For information and entries please visit mamilcycling.co.uk
