Shropshire talks cuts

big conversation

As cuts continue to put a strain on services throughout the country, Shropshire Council is calling on residents of the county to join the dialogue about funding.

The Big Conversation is the biggest consultation Shropshire Council has ever undertaken, as it affects each of the 150+ services the council provides. Like all local authorities, the Council is faced with the need to make further substantial savings in the coming years due to ongoing government cuts.

In a few years’ time, the county council will have less than one quarter of the money that is currently available to it, which means there must be changes made to the services they deliver – and some will have to stop altogether.

Shropshire Council is asking the public to tell them which services they feel are important – and you can join the Big Conversation in a number of ways. Visit shropshire.gov.uk/bigconversation, follow on Twitter @shropcouncil #Shropbc, email BigConversation@shropshire.gov.uk or call 0345 678 9077 (weekdays 9am to 5pm). There will also be focus groups running in the New Year.
