Stellar events in the Gorge

A pop-up planetarium will be just one of the ways the Ironbridge museums are exploring the solar system (and beyond!) this February half term. The Museums’ Planets and Space events cover a wide range of ways to study heavenly bodies between Saturday 16 and Sunday 24 February.

Visitors can book a timed session in the planetarium, located at Enginuity in Coalbrookdale, and learn about the lifecycle of stars such as the sun, what it’s possible to see with the naked eye, and the amazing technology now available to astronomers to enable new discoveries and test theories right back to the Big Bang at the beginning of time.

Budding astronomers can also join an evening of stargazing on Tuesday 19 February and see the constellations in real life. With a full moon rising from the east, participants should also be to see the mysterious marks on its surface. During half-term week, you can join a hands-on workshop to design and make your own space-themed model from craft materials to take home. Visitors can also enjoy the other exhibitions and interactive features at the child-friendly science museum.

Visit ironbridge.org.uk to find out about the events and to book your place; standard admission prices apply.
