Happy tails for Jan/Feb

How can I get my dog to lose weight?

The best way to help your dog lose weight is to visit one of the veterinary nurses at your local surgery. They can help work out the ideal body weight for your dog which can differ depending on their age and breed. There they will establish a weight-monitoring plan, specifically designed to safely diet your pet. Keeping a food diary of the number of treats and amount of food you are feeding your dog, along with how much exercise they do. Take it with you to show the nurse as it will help to plan a safely reduced food intake over a period. It’s important not to suddenly reduce the food intake, as your dog may become deficient in nutrients.

How do you choose a good dog groomer?

The industry has grown exponentially in recent years and it’s important to make sure the groomer you choose is fully qualified and insured. Ask to see their portfolio and enquire if they have experience with your type of dog as different coats and breeds require different techniques. It is always worth asking local dog walkers or other dog owners for a recommendation.
